Renos Revealed!

Here is my three week bathroom reno! (I think 2 of those weeks was spent on taking down the wallpaper)
A few before pictures

This renovation cost me 85$... but that is pretty misleading since I used alot of supplies I already had in my house. Let me brake it down for you:

Martha Stewart Living beadboard paintable wallpaper 24.99$
Wood trim on top of wallpaper (we already had one piece) 10$
Silver mirror from Homesense 30$
Glass knobs, found on ebay, 20$
Taking down the wallpaper

Stuff we already had.... wallpaper paste, paint, baseboards, spray paint, vintage wood frames and all the other decorations.

So here is a list of what I did... painted the room a beachy weathered grey color, put up beadboard wallpaper and wood trim on top of it. Painted the baseboards, wallpaper and wood trim the same white color. Spray painted the existing lighting fixture white, spray painted some old frames white, put new glass knobs on the vanity and white cupboard, and bought a new mirror.
The new knobs

The frames, before and after

I love the bathroom now. I can't believe I left it for so long! When I pass by sometimes I just walk in and look around. It's so fresh and bright!
Finished Project!

Bathroom Sneak Peak!

I am almost finished my mini makeover in my main floor bathroom. I have taken down all the wallpaper, painted...walls, light fixtures and trim..., and then put up some more wallpaper! I just need to find a mirror and get all the details finished. I ordered some cute glass knobs from ebay... can't wait to put those on! I just love being in the bathroom now! It was a little bit of work... but so worth it! More picture will come soon.

Feature Wall Panels

I have had this idea in my head for a long time... then the other day I decided TODAY IS THE DAY! I got out the primer and primed three panels.

I mixed the first color with the green paint in the room already, a little bit of grey paint and white paint. The top color I used the same paint with more white and a little gloss paint. I stenciled the wall using a Martha Stewart stencil. The trim was 20$ on sale at Home Depot. On a personal note, I cut the trim by myself! Usually I would get my husband to do this part... but not this time! I took a picture to prove it! : )

I put my metal circle wall art in the middle square and I am planing on finding two candle sconces for the outer squares.

The Small Bathroom Reveal

I realized the other day that I never posted the final pictures of our little bathroom. I gave so much lead up... click here and here to see a few of these posts.

We added a sliding door, pot lights and a fan to this little bathroom. I kept the walls a bright white so make it feel airy. The wallpaper I found at a garage sale for 1$. It was just enough to do that one wall... I love it! Originally we were going to do tile behind the mirror. We were in home depot and had all of our tile, grout, tile glue, those little spacers, and tile trim picked out and then we realized this project would cost well over 100$ and take a lot of time, so we nixed the idea. Instead we bought a piece of plywood, stained it and varnished it many times. I still used the tile trim on the sides... It gave this project such a finished look. ... well, without further ado...

Max's Room ... take 1

I did the tree mural from my last post and I love it! I have been finding it a little challenging to decorate Max's room, but I feel that things are on a roll now. I am currently working on painting a dresser for his room and modifying a crib bedding set that I bought... hopefully pictures will be up soon.

Fire Pit

Last weekend we finished our fire pit. Its huge... at first I thought a little too big, but we had a lunch of about 10 people and it was perfect! It was nice to have space to move around the chairs and to back up from the fire.

Keeping busy...

So my latest endeavor has been to start a garden. I have really been enjoying this new hobby. There is so much to learn... and luckily I have two great teachers, my parents! My parents have an amazing yard. They have been so helpful by generously giving me some treasures from there garden (splitting off perennials and vegetables) and advice on how to keep them healthy!
I have started my yard with side vegetable and flower garden. We used the bricks from our home's old chimney to boarder the garden. Currently we are working on making a patio/fire pit area. This area is in front of the flower portion of the garden. We are digging up the area right now and using the earth to level off the other side of the yard... so right now the yard looks a little dumpy, but don't judge it yet! (below is my quick re-touching of the last photo for how the yard will look)

Bedroom Bliss!

I love how our bedroom is turning out. I was a little nervous about how much space we had for our bed and end tables, but it ended out being perfect! I searched for end tables for a long time, and eventually found these on Kijiji for 15$... and then paid another 15$ for the cute glass and silver knobs. The lamps and center pillow I got from my husband for my birthday this year... they are from homesense. Hopefully this summer I will make a headboard. (Any ideas for fabric choices? I think there is a lot of cream, tan and white in the room already. My mom suggested dark brown with lots of texture, but I would love suggestions if you have any!)
The other side of the bedroom is still being figured out... but I did buy blinds today, I have to wait till tomorrow to pick them up. Also, our closet systems should be coming in on Tuesday! I am so excited to hang up my clothes! ... a walk-in closet... every girl's dream, right?

Check Check

Getting there. We checked off a bunch of "to-dos" off our upstairs check list this weekend. We put in a new railing, finished the baseboards and door trims... except in the walk-in closet for one of the bedrooms. My job has been to follow the progress around with wood filler and seal up all the nail holes and I have been caulking the baseboards... also an important job.
So once the one bedroom closet has its' baseboards, the bi-fold doors are hung for the baby's room and the railing is painted we can get rid of all the tools upstairs and do a final clean and paint touch ups! I think we will make it upstairs before the baby!

Come Here Finish Line!

We are so close to the end of our renos.... so close that I have stoped try to fit my clothes into our too small current bedroom. I just long for the walk-in closet that I know awaits me!
Doors and baseboards are going up right now!
I like this picture because it makes it look like evrything is done....but then you see this room, our soon-to-be bedroom, and you realize there is still some work to be done! But we are getting there!

Sunday Update

Vapor Barrier! I have been working hard at stapling and taping the vapor barrier. Some might say a little too hard. Apparently it is a little excessive to tape over all the staples... oh well... it can't hurt.

Sunday Update

Beam is in! Why did we randomly put a beam in our livingroom you ask. Let me recite some knowledge I have recently attained.... Our livingroom spans 15 feet, our house is built with 2x6's (I think... I will double check that) and in today's codes if you use the size of wood we used you should only span 10 feet. We noticed the bedroom above the livingroom was slightly bowed and plus we are adding a bathtub above this ceiling... so the beam was a must. We are slowly raising the beam, but can already tell the floor feels more sturdy and level.
Eventually we will work the beam into the decor of the livingroom by covering it with trim and adding some fake ones... but for now this is it:
