Refurbished Buffet
I did this piece awhile ago. I bought it off of kijiji for 50$... almost all sanded! It had a few small stains on it... so this led me to a darker stain. I love the big storage spaces for games. I don't have much else to say about this piece... so I'll let the pictures tell the story!

Renos Revealed!

A few before pictures
This renovation cost me 85$... but that is pretty misleading since I used alot of supplies I already had in my house. Let me brake it down for you:
Martha Stewart Living beadboard paintable wallpaper 24.99$
Wood trim on top of wallpaper (we already had one piece) 10$
Silver mirror from Homesense 30$
Glass knobs, found on ebay, 20$
Taking down the wallpaper
Stuff we already had.... wallpaper paste, paint, baseboards, spray paint, vintage wood frames and all the other decorations.
So here is a list of what I did... painted the room a beachy weathered grey color, put up beadboard wallpaper and wood trim on top of it. Painted the baseboards, wallpaper and wood trim the same white color. Spray painted the existing lighting fixture white, spray painted some old frames white, put new glass knobs on the vanity and white cupboard, and bought a new mirror.
The new knobs
The frames, before and after
I love the bathroom now. I can't believe I left it for so long! When I pass by sometimes I just walk in and look around. It's so fresh and bright!
Finished Project!

Bassinet
So I bought a used bassinet, thinking I would just use it as it was. Then I got a little excited and decided to recover the bassinet. This turned out to be a way bigger project then I thought... luckily I had so much help from my mom! In the end it turned out way too cute and I love it! While laboring away (oh so pun-ny), it was fun to dream about the baby that will soon get to sleep in it! (Below is a before picture)

What was old... is now new again!
I love upcycling because it is such a green idea. You save the world from the by products of creating a new product and possibly save the landfill from having to store one more item... plus you get to be creative in how you revamp your treasure.
For my birthday my mother-in-law offered to upcycle a rocking chair for me. What a lovely gift!

Lighting FIXture
After we painting our dinningroom we noticed the lighting fixture was a little dated. (Ok, I noticed this before painting the walls... but with walls like that no one was looking at the light fixture). So I dusted off the glassware and spray painted the gold away.... and voila!
Eventually we hope to buy an amazing, show stopping light fixture for this room and then I think this chandilier would look great in our ensuit bathroom.

Went For It
So on Valentines day I got fed up with my dinningroom walls. (As you maybe will have forscene this from my last post) So me and my husband broke out the paint and start priming the walls... over the wallpaper. It didn't take us long to realize that one of the layers of wallpaper peeled off when it was painted... so we put down our brushes and spent about three hours preping the walls. We didn't take off all the paper, but we made sure the one layer was off. It tooks us two days of work... but the change is amazing. It's so nice.... it feels like my eyes can finally relax.

Kitchen Paint Job
My mini kitchen reno consisted of paint, new drawer knobs and hinges. I am still working on taking down the layers of wallpaper, so try to ignore the floral picture dictionary on the walls.

I laid out my plans for this kitchen in an old post. (see here) I think the final product is pretty close to my original ideas. This is the before picture:

A Garage Full of Must.... No More!
Our garage was a terrible mess when we first moved in. It was build on dirt, so after years and years it had sunk into the ground and rotted. The front doors were so sunk they could not be opened. So we (not me at all actually... but me dad and husband) jacked up the garage and cut off the rotten parts and put new treated wood on for the base.

Above are the before pictures.
I did help out with this project though. The garage had been insulated with some kind of peg board type insulation that had gotten wet and was a big cause for the smell of must I think... I pulled them all off.
Below are some progress photos:

Pouring the concrete only took a few hours. We had lots of help from Jonathen, Derek (on his birthday!) and my Dad. (Thanks guys!!!)

There is still lots of work to do, we need to replace the rotten boards at the bottom, straighten the garage (it's leaning a few inches) and give it a good paint job.... but it already looks so much better!

A Weeks Worth
We have been in our home for a little over a week and things are already starting to change. A big difference has been made by just having our stuff in the house. Like our bathroom... we haven't done any renovations, but just hanging up our fish picture made it feel more like our home.

But we have started doing some renovations as well. This home has an assortment of different light switch and plug-in plates, so I have started to unify them. Eventually I want to change the actual switch too.

And I have been the most busy in the kitchen. I'll just show one area for now and the rest of the kitchen is still a disaster zone. The sink area was a difficult discion in our household. I really wanted to paint it all gray, my husband wanted to leave it white. After a while he said he'd be fine with the drawers being gray... and then eventually he said he'd be fine with it all gray! So I have posted the before and after picture:
