Feed Your Soul = Free Art!
Feed Your Soul is a free art project. Each month artists are invited to participate and to contribute a print which is totally free and available for download.
This project is coordinated by Jen Wallace of Indie Fixx to help art lovers feed their souls with art in these recessionary times and to help artists promote their work.
Each week (usually on Monday) 2 + prints are added to the available downloads.
If you are an artist and would like to submit your work for consideration, just send an email with your url or 1-2 images of your work. The project is booked through August. It may take us a while to get back to you as well.
Remember, art can free your soul!
Peace, love, art and happiness...
So I downloaded a few photos and got them printed... the result:

More House Photos
These are the floors upstairs, they are fir. The main floor is oak.
This is in the basement. Scary. It reminds me of Kevin's basement in Home Alone.

So much wall paper.... I am a little nervous, since I have never taken down wallpaper... but on the plus side I'm sure I could go pro after finishing this house.

I never bought myself the old chandelier for the craft project I wanted to do, so when I saw this I freaked! Now I don't have to buy one!

Desire to Inspire
I love the photo below. I really want to try the look they did with the dresser, by painting out the outer frame a solid color and leaving the drawers with the wood texture. I also love the vintage chair upholstered in a modern color... I am on the hunt right now for a pair of vintage chairs I can do this to.From this photo I love the mixture of different art work on the same wall. I love how busy this room looks. I love it when you walk into a room and there is so much to look at. I am also a huge fan of the display case. I like the use of fabric in this photo, in the display case and in on the chairs. I think I've decided I also really like it when the table doesn't match the chairs. Matchy matchy is out, for me at least.I want these chairs!

Kitchen Dreams {for the short term}
Lastly, I want to put up floating shelves on the empty wall to store and display our nice dishes. I don't want to block up that wall too much because it has the window behind it. Below is an example of what I mean. (and I just happen to have one ikea floating shelf that will do nicely!)

Butterflies on the Brain {Operation... I'm the Dr. for you}
Anyway. I saw this photo of an art exhibit (link to picture's website here) and got so anxious to try it myself. I went out and bought myself five records for five dollars at a thrift store, cut out my butterfly template and taped it on to the record. I got my scissors and went to cut when, to my surprize, I realized how hard vinyl actually is. There is no way any type of scissor could make it through that. So my dad set up his scroll saw for me and that work beautifully. Then I put them in the oven at 200 degrees for two mins to soften them up so I could mold the wings. The picture below are my little butterflies... I will wait till we move before I hang them up some where.
Side note, last night I realized that my new house has lots of halls which means more surface space for art!

Choosing Paint Colors...
I found another resource for choosing paint colors. I am looking into a light grey blue color, but it's so hard to picture that tiny little swatch square on a whole wall. I have been using benjimen moore's virtual fan deck. Found here. It's helpful because you can find your color then expand it.
