Bedroom Bliss!

I love how our bedroom is turning out. I was a little nervous about how much space we had for our bed and end tables, but it ended out being perfect! I searched for end tables for a long time, and eventually found these on Kijiji for 15$... and then paid another 15$ for the cute glass and silver knobs. The lamps and center pillow I got from my husband for my birthday this year... they are from homesense. Hopefully this summer I will make a headboard. (Any ideas for fabric choices? I think there is a lot of cream, tan and white in the room already. My mom suggested dark brown with lots of texture, but I would love suggestions if you have any!)
The other side of the bedroom is still being figured out... but I did buy blinds today, I have to wait till tomorrow to pick them up. Also, our closet systems should be coming in on Tuesday! I am so excited to hang up my clothes! ... a walk-in closet... every girl's dream, right?

What was old... is now new again!

I love upcycling because it is such a green idea. You save the world from the by products of creating a new product and possibly save the landfill from having to store one more item... plus you get to be creative in how you revamp your treasure.
For my birthday my mother-in-law offered to upcycle a rocking chair for me. What a lovely gift!

Baby Blessings

This past weekend my cousin, aunt and cousin-in-law planned a baby shower for me. I left the party feeling so loved and cared for. I unfortunately forgot to bring my camera, but here is my baby room now.... filled to the max with love! (and messy.... organization is the next step)

Yipppeee!

Done! We are in the process of moving all of our furniture upstairs right now... these a fun and messy times! More photos soon to come!

Got My Hair Done, Nails Did....

I saw this idea on a tv show... all you do is a colorful base coat, then a clear coat and before the clear coat dries you put a piece of lace on it.

Buh bye Tools!

Yesterday we put the tools away! Such a happy day! Now it is cleaning and paint touch up time.

Baby Bonnets!

My first baby project was inspired after my mom and I took a tour through the boxes of our (my sibling's and mine) baby clothing. I saw all these cute bonnets, so I decided to try to make a few. Notice all the random sizes... one turned out way too small. The most fun was choosing the fabrics to go together.

Check Check

Getting there. We checked off a bunch of "to-dos" off our upstairs check list this weekend. We put in a new railing, finished the baseboards and door trims... except in the walk-in closet for one of the bedrooms. My job has been to follow the progress around with wood filler and seal up all the nail holes and I have been caulking the baseboards... also an important job.
So once the one bedroom closet has its' baseboards, the bi-fold doors are hung for the baby's room and the railing is painted we can get rid of all the tools upstairs and do a final clean and paint touch ups! I think we will make it upstairs before the baby!

A New Label

On the side on my blog you see a list of called "labels", some blogs call them tags, well I will be adding a new and exciting label to my blog. This little label will be used often and is very important to me and thus deserves this introductory blog. So with out further ado.... I give you...

BABY!

Me and my husband are expecting a baby in the middle of June. I have been sewing up a storm this past month trying out some new baby patterns, planning the baby's room (I just picked a theme), and dreaming of future baby projects (like making my own mobile)... all things I hope to post about soon!

Come Here Finish Line!

We are so close to the end of our renos.... so close that I have stoped try to fit my clothes into our too small current bedroom. I just long for the walk-in closet that I know awaits me!
Doors and baseboards are going up right now!
I like this picture because it makes it look like evrything is done....but then you see this room, our soon-to-be bedroom, and you realize there is still some work to be done! But we are getting there!
