Whitewashed and Wonderful!

I love white bathrooms! Our master bath will have three windows making it very open, bright and airy. The color white will just add to this feeling. Here are a few of my favorite white bathrooms:

Lighting Inspiration

We are now getting into the fun parts of renovations.... buying stuff! We are searching for lighting fixtures for upstairs. So far we have bought two vanity lights, pot lights and two ceiling mounted lights. Our hunt continues for a sleek hallway fixture.
Here are a few pieces from westelm that I love:

Come on Be Happy!

Being mad sucks. So even though I am still really mad I am trying to let it go and move on. All renovations have their bumps. I was watching this show where this girl was flipping a house and she went 50 000$ in debt and lost money on the house. It was so sad.
Anyway... yesterday I made a list of why my life rocks... it helps to forget the little things.
1. Everyone I love is in good health. (I am so very thankful for this)
2. I have amazing people to love
3. ... and dogs. : )
4. My husband loves his job. This one might sound lame, but I think it is important to love what you do. I am not quite there yet... but hopefully one day.
5. I have a home that I get to be creative with
6. Two new people are following my blog!!! Welcome Lee and Miranda

My list goes on but you get the idea.
So to who ever reads this, I hope you are having an amazingly happy day today, but if you are not, try making a My Life Rocks List... it might help.

Thumbs Down for Amerispec!!!!!

I am so mad right now I want to throw up. We went to the home show a few weeks ago and talked to some people at this booth for Amerispec inspection. They gave us this sales pitch for like a half an hour on how much money we could get in federal grants. I was totally honest with them and told them about all the work that we had already done, but they said that wouldn't matter, they would still be able to tell the insulation that was their before. So I book an appointment. (It's 260$)... and I told the lady on the phone the our situation too. Then the guy came over, Bob, and he said that he could only report what he sees. and I told him my story so he called his supervisor and told him all the wall and attic were insulated... and they weren't, I left one wall and part of the attic with the wood shavings and I said that well he was on the phone, but he ignored me.
What gets me is he says we should take pictures so he knows what is behind the walls after we drywall and I said I have pictures of the shavings can't you use that? But no.
Argg... moral of the story... do not use Amerispec!!!!!!!!!!

Clutter Crazy!

The other day I was having one of those panic attacks when you realize how much unnecessary stuff you have in the house and clutter is just everywhere you look.... and in one corner, leaning up against the couch, was a bag with these four big, kind of cheap looking, white frames my husband had taken from his parents house... because they were moving and probably were planning to give them to a thrift store. I was so mad that he took them because I knew they would just end up in our basement for years until we would give them to a thrift store. So I decide to change this fate and use them. I just put scrapbook paper in them. I think they look kind of neat and they match my great new pillow made by my Auntie Anita. I think they will look really good in one of the bedrooms in an arrangement of two over two, with a crisp color behind them.

Hopefully they will work well together. I am a little nervous since the faucet is so high. Cant' wait till they come.... and even more until they are installed!

My Christmas Gift

My husband bought me this metal wall decor for Christmas. He tells me that I said I liked it when we were walking through this designer store a few months back... I can vaguely remember, but I am glad he was listening, because I absolutely love it!

A Simple Update

This is were we are sitting at right now.

Bathroom Design

I planned a layout for this bathroom before.... but my ideas have changed some. (Click here for the before plan) My new plan is a little more modern.
I want to wallpaper the wall that has the vanity on it with the rest of the walls a light grey... almost white color. The baseboards, window trim and door will be a bright white. I want a rectangular ceramic vessel sink with modern mirror for the back and two vanity lights on either side. My plan is to paint the outside of the bathtub black. And what I am working on now is picking tile for the floor. My current favorite is this tile I found at the home show this past weekend from flatlanders flooring:

Still in Demo World

My life for the past month has been all about demolishing! This is the biggest reason for my lack of blogging- I have nothing new to share... but the end is in sight and I can't wait for the putting back together of our home part.
We have made a few decisions in the past month. We reworked the floor plan of the upstairs ... take a look:

This is the previous layout:
This is our plan:

The last image is another option for the ensuite. I am still undecided about this layout. The trick with this room is that the toilet has to be in that spot and the wall opposite the door is all windows, so I can't put a sink in front of it... and now that I think of it the bath probably wouldn't be best in front of the window either : (
Ok, I am back to the option in the last picture.
