Baby Shower Game

I got to be in charge of doing a little game for the baby shower, so I did a baby food guessing game. I choose mostly fruit purees, but I did through in a beef, spaghetti and veggies mix. (Poor babies!... I mean the ones that really have to eat that)
If you are wanting to do this a little tip, I provided pretzels for the tasters.

Three Little Pigs

This is my baby with two of my friend's babies. This was the first time they had all been together so a picture was in order...and I thought it would be fun to dress them up. I made them little fleece piggy hats and a piggy nose. Oh, and it was fun! Let's just say the above picture, which is heavily tweaked by my husband, was how I thought the photo shoot would go... below is how it actually went. But honestly, I love the below pictures just as much... if not more. It was an amazing visit... I am so glad Max and I have great friends!

Baby Photography... Set Design

Since Max was born I have developed a new hobby... photography! I am not very good at the lighting... or focus... or really anything photography related (although the above two photos my husband photo-shopped for me, so they look great in those respects), but I am having lots of fun with the "set design". (I don't know what else to call it)
Here are a few of my favorites...

Give me an "M"

Give me an "M" .... give me an "A".... give me an "X"
Yeah Max!
Luckily Max has such a short name... it allowed me to frame each letter. I love how it turned out. Personally, I think it looks way better in real life.... so how ever much you like it, just know you would like it just a little bit more in real life : )
I had these frames in my dinningroom before, with different scrapbooking paper. But I am in the mood for a wall art shake up, so I am moving stuff around, modifying a few things. So when I decided to use these for Max's room I thought I would look for scrapbooking paper again... but whilest fabric shopping I found a print that I loved and matches his bedding... and way cheaper then buy the 6 pieces of paper I would have needed. The letters are cardstock cut outs that I painted with the same paint from the dresser.

Max's Room... take 2

To theme or not to theme...
In the beginning of planing out Max's room I was trying to come up with a good theme. I had planed on doing Jip and Janneke. They are characters from popular children's books in the Netherlands. I used these books to try to learn the language when I lived in Holland and totally fell in love with the illustrations.
I had big plans for using these characters... including a painted mural, but in the end we only used a few photos of the characters here and there. So I guess I wouldn't call it a theme room.... because of this it leaves room for incorporating other things in the room. On the floating shelves is one of my husband favorite childhood books, Professor Wormbog... which has amazing illustrations as well.
Anyway... here are a few photos.

Max's Room ... take 1

I did the tree mural from my last post and I love it! I have been finding it a little challenging to decorate Max's room, but I feel that things are on a roll now. I am currently working on painting a dresser for his room and modifying a crib bedding set that I bought... hopefully pictures will be up soon.

One Sleepless Night

Last night i couldn't sleep... because of this I think it will lead to many more long nights. I spent my time looking at amazing projects... so now I have been inspired to do about 30 new projects. Check them out...

These three pieces of furniture are made from old doors and windows... of which I have an abundance of! I really want to do the red shelf project... but make two and paint them white. They are from http://www.myrepurposedlife.net/

I am thinking of doing this project for my bedroom.

I love love love this mirror... its made with paint stirring sticks. The wall stencils and the mirror are from http://www.centsationalgirl.com/

I have been struggling with what to to with Max's room... and then I saw this birch forest from http://prissthis.blogspot.com/

Max's First Wedding

Max's first big outting was an important one... he got to go to a wedding! And it was so fun to dress up my little man. I bought a black tie and a plain white onsie to make his undershirt. Then I really wanted to find him a v-neck cardigan, but i had no luck finding one, so I made one. I took an old sweater of mine and cut it up. It worked out so well... I just might have to try it again. He looked like a stylish old man!

Tie One

One month! My little boy is one month already. Time flies... but at the same time I feel like I have known this little man for way longer then one month. Being a mom has been tiring, but oh, so amazing!
This latest craft I have to share is one I did for Max. I had a plain onsie and decided to spiff it up... and thus this creation:

My First Baby Blanket!

My first baby blanket! ...I should clarify, I mean the first one that I have made for my baby.
Yesterday I had a little extra time in the evening and a little extra fabric. I love it! I just want to make more! I have been looking at alot of crafts online where people have been using vintage fabrics... like retro sheets and pillow cases, so I am thinking about trying incorporating in my next project.

Bassinet

So I bought a used bassinet, thinking I would just use it as it was. Then I got a little excited and decided to recover the bassinet. This turned out to be a way bigger project then I thought... luckily I had so much help from my mom! In the end it turned out way too cute and I love it! While laboring away (oh so pun-ny), it was fun to dream about the baby that will soon get to sleep in it! (Below is a before picture)

Nursery Inspiration

I have just spent the past hour looking through this website I found called project nursery. It is a website were people can make a profile and then post their nursery photos. It's a great place to get inspiration for nursery ideas. Above are a few of my favorites. I really like the color combination of soft blues, yellows and a little bit of red or pink. I might do something like for my little one.

Baby Booties!

When me and my mom were looking threw my old baby stuff we came across a pattern for baby booties! These were so fun to make. Choose the fabrics to go together was my favorite. Above is a pair I made for a friend of mine, and her cute little baby is modeling them! Below is boy pair I made. I have made a few pairs now... there is definitely a learning curve, as my first pair took me hours and hours and I had to get my mom to finish them... but now I got it down and it's such an enjoyable project. Once I know if my baby is a boy or a girl I will make some more.

What was old... is now new again!

I love upcycling because it is such a green idea. You save the world from the by products of creating a new product and possibly save the landfill from having to store one more item... plus you get to be creative in how you revamp your treasure.
For my birthday my mother-in-law offered to upcycle a rocking chair for me. What a lovely gift!
Here are the before and afters:
